St Cath’s has got all of the fun
THIS week was Under 8s week – Inspiring Children Country To Coast.
It’s a wonderful theme for the Early Years Campus at St Catherine’s Catholic College, which draws children equally from the farming regions of Proserpine and the tourism central of Airlie Beach and Cannonvale.
Under 8s week is all about celebrating learning in the early years.
Enrolments for 2018 are now open.
With the kindergarten now established on Renwick Road, the school has the space to again run three Prep classes in 2018.
St Catherine’s is very proud of its Prep program, which has undergone significant changes since the introduction of the Australian Curriculum in 2012.
It removed Prep from the domain of Early Childhood education and set it firmly in the schooling sector.
St Catherine’s Catholic College primary principal Sharyn Bell said Prep teachers at St Catherine’s were specialised Early Years teachers with years of teaching experience across the first four years of school.
“Our Prep teachers excel in encouraging our students to question and wonder, to build and create, to collaborate, co-operate and take risks with their learning alongside their more formal and structured literacy and numeracy lessons,” she said.
St Catherine’s Under 8s Day will be held tomorrow at Mercy Campus on Marathon Street from 9am-11.30am.
Members of the community are invited to come and join all of the fun.
SCHOOL SPIRIT: St Catherine’s College provides a welcoming environment for all students.
Prep is now firmly in the domain of the schooling sector.
Students are encouraged to push boundaries at St Cath’s.
