Smith smashes her way to medal

Whitsunday Times - - SPORT -

GOLF: Proserpine Golf Club suffered from a rain-interrupted week with the course closed over the weekend due to the deluge.

Owing to the heavy rain this week only one game of golf was played, which was the Wednesday ladies’ Monthly Medal last Wednesday, May 17.

The overall winner was Sue Smith with a dominant score of 74 nett.

She was followed by runner-up Viv Demartini on 76, from Beryl Miller with a 78 nett.

The pin shots went to Ann Gardel on hole nine and Marlene Gray on 16.

The least amount of putts for the days went to Di Dobbins with 27.

Next week’s golf will feature Stableford events for both Thursday men and the Saturday Men and Ladies’ competitions.

The front nine re-opened at the club on Tuesday with the back nine still inundated from the rain.

To follow conditions of the club, you can check their Facebook page, Proserpine Golf Shop.

Proserpine Golf Club is still recovering from Cyclone Debbie. Their buggy shed has been cleaned and a new buggy layout with line markings and space numbers has been painted on the concrete floor.

Golf buggy owners are advised that their buggies have been moved during the process, and have been allocated new spaces.

The intention of the shed improvements is not to have any loose items on the floor, to enable the area to be cleaned on a regular basis.

The golf club board would like to thank members for their co-operation as they get things up and running.

ACCURACY: Di Dobbins (pictured in action last year) claimed least amount of putts on Wednesday.
