West Ham brings training camp

Whitsunday Times - - SPORT -

SOCCER: In a major coup for junior soccer in the region, West Ham United will be bringing its Oceania Academy training camp to the Whitsundays.

The acclaimed clinic will be overseen by a senior member of the West Ham United Oceania Academy coaching staff, as well as coaches from West Ham.

Talented players who excel at the camp could even be invited to attend a national residential camp.

Those who really stand out could spend a week at the club in London or for a UK development tour.

“The intention is to open this clinic up to all kids in the Whitsundays,” WFC committee member Allan Milostic said.

“We will be inviting Proserpine Taipans and Bowen Blast Football clubs and advertising in all the local school newsletters, as we are hoping to use this clinic as an opportunity to attract more kids and families to the sport.”

The clinic costs $175 but those who register by June 11 will get the chance to win a free clinic.

It will be at Whitsunday Sportspark on June 26–27 for girls and boys aged seven–17.
