DV: Bottle thrown and text abuse
SHOCKING text messages were read out in Proserpine Magistrates Court on Monday as part of a harrowing tale of domestic violence.
A 30-year-old Jubilee Pocket man sent the messages to his partner between March 21 to 24 and he was also charged assaulting the woman between January 31 to March 1.
Police prosecutor Bernhard Berger said during the period, the man was involved in an early morning argument with his partner at a Jubilee Pocket address. At one point he “pushed her with his index finger in her face” and locked her out of the house. She then went for a run but the man got in his car and followed her down the road and yelled at her. At one point he stopped, got out of his car, and threw a glass bottle in her direction.
Then on March 22 she arrived home and they had an argument over the air-conditioner being on. He left and she messaged him to “not come back ever”. This started a string of abusive text messages from the man that included “hang yourself” and “test me c***”.
He was placed on 12 months probation with a good behaviour bond of $1000 and fined $500.
