A costly hand

HELP­ING his girl­friend with a hill start has cost a 25-year-old Flame­tree man his driver’s li­cence for two years.

Aaron Gra­ham Baker was al­ready on a court sus­pended driv­ers li­cence when he got be­hind the wheel on April 21 around 4pm on Er­ro­mango Dr, Ju­bilee Pocket. Baker told the court he was in the pas­sen­ger’s seat of a car with his girl­friend when she strug­gled to do a hill start so he swapped seats with her to help. Mag­is­trate Ron Muir­head said “the bot­tom line is you shouldn’t have driven a mo­tor ve­hi­cle”.

Baker was also fined $750.
