Kin­n­ear holds on to top spot

De­fend­ing cham­pion’s great game

BOWLS: Satur­day saw the Divi­sion 1 pen­nant side travel to South Sub­ur­ban for the third round of pen­nants.

Shane Spann’s team of Nathan Dodds, Vince Olsen and Gavin Milne won their match by 13 shots to be the only win­ning team on the day. Hug­gie’s team lost by 12 and team Kin­n­ear lost by 13.

On Sun­day the divi­sion one side was at home against North­ern Beaches with Spanny’s team win­ning by 10 shots, Hug­gie’s team los­ing by 13 and team Kin­n­ear go­ing down by 4.

The Divi­sion 4 team was at home to Mo­ran­bah on Satur­day. Jim Janz’s team had a 23-all draw and Shane May’s team won 18-17 to give Proser­pine the 1 shot win.

Sun­day saw the Divi­sion 4 team travel to Mackay Bowls club. Janz’s side lost by 20 and Sha­neo’s team lost by 11.

Divi­sion 1 will play Mackay Club on June 3.

The same team will play North Mackay on Sun­day morn­ing at 9am, be­ing Nathan Dodds, Barry Saroglia, Gavin Milne, Shane Spann; Scott Kin­n­ear, Shane Kin­n­ear, Luke Kin­n­ear, Gra­hame Kin­n­ear; Michael Kin­n­ear, Luchie Gardel, Scott Hamil­ton and Wayne Han­d­ley.

Divi­sion 4 (Chris Janz, Dale Haack, Barry Zill­mann, Shane May; Jim Quod, Kevin Thoro­good, John Bye, Jim Janzwill) play North­ern Beaches at Proser­pine at 1pm Satur­day. Sun­day will see Dan Robin­son come in for Dale Haack to play against St He­lens at 9am.

Men’s sin­gles

Three games of Men’s Cham­pi­onship Sin­gles were played over the week­end. On Satur­day morn­ing Shane May gave the de­fend­ing cham­pion Gra­hame Kin­n­ear a fright, lead­ing 21 to 13 at one stage be­fore Gra­hame picked up 13 shots in the last 5 ends to win 26 to 21. Sun­day saw Shane Spann take on Gra­hame Kin­n­ear. Gra­hame proved too strong win­ning 27 to 14. In the other match on Sun­day, Luchie Gardel proved too strong for Peter Law­ton, win­ning 25-9.

Ladies sin­gles

This Wed­nes­day May 31, the fi­nal of the Ch/Ch Sin­gles will be Heather Brown and Lois Read.

Last Wed­nes­day the semi fi­nal of the ladies sin­gles was played. Lois Read will play the fi­nal af­ter a well con­tested game with Wendy Pomeroy fin­ished26/18.

Proser­pine ladies will travel to South Sub­ur­ban on Thurs­day to play their first game of Divi­sion 1 Pen­nants.

There will be no com­pe­ti­tion games played un­til July 2 due to play­ers in the Aus­tralian Open.
