Tuck and Cameron get memorial win

Whitsunday Times - - SPORT -

GOLF: Thirty intrepid Whitsunday Golfers braved the thick early morning fog last Sunday to play the Mark Nicol Memorial Trophy, a 2 ball Ambrose which was Mark’s favourite format of the game.

While the front nine was still in recovery mode and a little heavy, scoring was tight but NTPs were again, very thin on the ground.

The winners on the day were Lew Tuck and Don Cameron on 65.5. They were followed by runners-up Chris Bailey and Ben Moran on 66.5.

The rundown included Annie and Dean Kercher on 68.25, Penny Wardroper and Rod Wecker, Pauline Redpath and Danny York, and Tessa Aitken and Ritchie Atkins.

The longest drives in Men’s A went to Lew Tuck and in Men’s B it was Paul Nicol. For the ladies (1-39 h’cap) it was Penny Wardroper and (40+ h’cap) Linda Wardroper.

Nearest the pins were: 2nd shot on the 9th to Chris Bailey and Ben Moran and 2nd shot on the 2nd to Don Cameron and Lew Tuck.

Next week will be the Airlie Panel and Pain/Master Butchers Whitsunday Monthly Medal and least putts.

WINNERS: Tessa Aitken, Dean Kercher, Lew Tuck, Don Cameron and Danny York (back) with Annie Kercher and Pauline Redpath (front) were strong on the course last week.
