Stanley claims Airlie Beach Bowls singles crown
BOWLS: Margo Stanley has claimed the ladies A Singles title at the Airlie Beach Bowls Club after edging out Elaine Hadlow in the final on Monday.
Stanley held on to win 28-23 in the decider.
The final of the B pairs was also played with Shirley Wodson and Betty Whitehorn teaming up to take on Elaine Kippen and Regina Aquilina.
The match was a tight affair with Wodson and Whitehorn prevailing 18-14.
Also on Monday, three ladies teams travelled to St Helens Bowls Club to play in the Autumn triples carnival with Margo Stanley, Jill Spencer and Henny Tattam finishing runners-up.
The men’s Pennants division two and six teams have also been in action.
Division three and four ladies Pennants will commence at Airlie Beach Bowls Club on June 6 from 11am.
The ladies monthly meeting will be held on Monday, June 5 at 10.30am.
The Whitsunday Coast Fours Carnival will be played on June 10-11 but the field is already filled.
Barefoot bowls will be played Friday night with 80 people attending while Business House Bowls is strong on Wednesdays.
