Not worth the risk
A SHORT 100m drive while over the alcohol limit ended in a fine and driving disqualification for a Gregory River man.
The court heard how on April 14 at 10.59pm, police pulled over John Alfred Lumby, 61, for a random breath test, when he delivered a reading of 0.070.
Lumby told officers he had consumed about four cans of XXXX beer before getting behind the wheel.
He said he was driving his car from the Airlie Beach Bowls Club to Whitsunday PCYC after a function when he was caught.
Magistrate Simon Young handed Lumby, who pleaded guilty, a $350 fine and a one-month disqualification.
