Airlie set to host Whitsunday 4s
BOWLS: Airlie Beach Bowls Club played mixed games last Wednesday.
Bob Spees, Dom Sposato and Russell Bramich defeated Neil Moore, Rick Brunell and John Stark 26-12 while Herb Secomb, Tony Whitehorn and Nik Fernbach defeated Rick Galea, Graeme Herd and Steve Tattam 35-25, and Jim Cairns, Tim Smith and Betty Nicolle defeated Lou Rogan, Lloyd Budd and David Stock 19-15.
Wednesday also saw the Airlie Beach Ladies in Division 4 Pennants travel to St Helens for their first round. However they lost by five points overall. On Thursday the Division 3 teams travelled to South Suburban for their first game and won both games by eight points overall.
Business House bowls returns this week.
Friday night barefoot bowls saw a huge crowd of 80 people.
Saturday the Division 2 Men’s Pennant Team played at home against South Suburban and won all three rinks. They played again on Sunday against Seaforth where they lost two games and won one. Division 6 Men’s Pennant teams travelled to Pioneer Valley on Saturday and won all three games and Sunday went to Sarina and lost all three games.
Sunday Social bowls saw Lou Rogan, Wally Reintals and Henny Tattam as the winners of the day after defeating Dinah Reintals, Ash Warland and June Walsh. Other games were Ron Spence and Margo Stanley defeated Martha Blair and Martin Klyne. Tim Smith and Betty Nicolle defeated Betty Whitehorn and Roy Blair.
Ladies will be playing Pennants on Tuesday and Thursday this week.
This weekend is also the Whitsunday Coast 4s Carnival. There will be no social bowls played.
