Parkrun morning of first timers and PBs
RUNNING: Justin Helsham was once again the first across the line at Airlie Beach parkrun on Saturday.
Crossing the line in a time of 19.17, Helsham crossed in front of second placed first timer Leigh Kane in 19.26 and Mark Ogilvie in 20.09.
Cassandra Carman crossed first for the ladies in a time of 22.40 in a personal best performance.
Riana Young Cashinella was also pushed to break her previous personal best time to come second in 23.06. Wendy Versluis also managed third in her first ever parkrun.
A total of 60 runners hit Abell Point Marina for the starting line on Saturday with seven personal best times achieved.
Volunteers Bob Barford, Shane Bellert, Margaret Coote, Ayla Hadley, Rebecca Hadley, Karen Maddock, Sylvie Martin, Timothy Mcquoid-Mason and Ruth Roberts helped on the day.
Any runners considering parkrun should go online, print a barcode and be at Abell Point Marina by 7am on Saturday.
With 14 runners competing in their first run this week, it’s an event that everyone is welcome to attend.
