Big score for team winners
GOLF: Last Saturday the Proserpine Golf Club competition was a three ball aggregate, from a team of three or four players for the Heron Todd White trophies.
The winning team was Mick Burrows, Travis Clinch, Brad Albertson and Tony Sellwood with an aggregate of 155 points.
Runners-up were the team of Ben Smith, Nic Langevad and George Steane on 112.
These were followed by Col Gilham, Troy Hayes and Neil Cawthorne, 112 and Mark Schubert, Rob Smith and Albert Pini on 107.
The single stableford event, run in conjunction, was won by Travis Clinch with 42 points, and the runner-up was Col Gilham on 41. On Wednesday June 7, the ladies played their monthly medal. The winner was Jenny Hounsell with nett 69 on a countback from Toni Clauss.
Thursday’s men’s V Par attracted 33 players, with Wayne Temby winning the A grade by a good margin on +8. Runner-up was John Grosskreutz on +1.
B grade winner, Paul Nicol, on +5 won by a one from Garry Flannery on +4.
The nine-hole comp was won by Ron Edkins, followed by Wayne Temby and Ron Jamieson.
Next week the ladies will be playing their May monthly medal, while the men will play a single stableford on Saturday. The Thursday men’s competition will be a single stroke.
In Sunday’s junior matches, the three hole competition gross was won by Georgia Holmes on 25, and the runner-up was Caycee Bartz with 26.
The nett winner was Logan Burke with 9.
Finn Burke took the gross prize in the six-hole event with 42 from Ayden Bartz 46. Connor Devery was nett winner, 17, from Kybie Phillips 19. The nine-hole comp gross was won by Jack Sadler, 65 from Rian Mitchell 69. Three tied for the nett, these being Josh McDougall, Jack Valmadre and Blake Beech, all with 38.
Levi Holmes took out the 18 holes with 104.
THE Veterans golfers returned on Tuesday with 22 in their 18-hole competition. Visitor Raymond Baillie took the win on 66. Albert Pini was runner-up on 68.
In the nine-hole competition, 24 runners saw Albert Pini reverse his luck to win on 31 on a countback from Raymond Baillie.
Next Tuesday will see the Whitsunday group join the Veterans. It starts at 9am.
