Big score for team win­ners

GOLF: Last Satur­day the Proser­pine Golf Club com­pe­ti­tion was a three ball ag­gre­gate, from a team of three or four play­ers for the Heron Todd White tro­phies.

The win­ning team was Mick Bur­rows, Travis Clinch, Brad Al­bert­son and Tony Sell­wood with an ag­gre­gate of 155 points.

Run­ners-up were the team of Ben Smith, Nic Langevad and George Steane on 112.

Th­ese were fol­lowed by Col Gil­ham, Troy Hayes and Neil Cawthorne, 112 and Mark Schu­bert, Rob Smith and Al­bert Pini on 107.

The sin­gle sta­ble­ford event, run in con­junc­tion, was won by Travis Clinch with 42 points, and the run­ner-up was Col Gil­ham on 41. On Wed­nes­day June 7, the ladies played their monthly medal. The win­ner was Jenny Houn­sell with nett 69 on a count­back from Toni Clauss.

Thurs­day’s men’s V Par at­tracted 33 play­ers, with Wayne Temby win­ning the A grade by a good mar­gin on +8. Run­ner-up was John Grosskreutz on +1.

B grade win­ner, Paul Ni­col, on +5 won by a one from Garry Flan­nery on +4.

The nine-hole comp was won by Ron Ed­kins, fol­lowed by Wayne Temby and Ron Jamieson.

Next week the ladies will be play­ing their May monthly medal, while the men will play a sin­gle sta­ble­ford on Satur­day. The Thurs­day men’s com­pe­ti­tion will be a sin­gle stroke.

In Sun­day’s ju­nior matches, the three hole com­pe­ti­tion gross was won by Ge­or­gia Holmes on 25, and the run­ner-up was Caycee Bartz with 26.

The nett win­ner was Lo­gan Burke with 9.

Finn Burke took the gross prize in the six-hole event with 42 from Ay­den Bartz 46. Con­nor Dev­ery was nett win­ner, 17, from Ky­bie Phillips 19. The nine-hole comp gross was won by Jack Sadler, 65 from Rian Mitchell 69. Three tied for the nett, th­ese be­ing Josh McDougall, Jack Val­madre and Blake Beech, all with 38.

Levi Holmes took out the 18 holes with 104.

Veter­ans

THE Veter­ans golfers re­turned on Tues­day with 22 in their 18-hole com­pe­ti­tion. Visi­tor Ray­mond Bail­lie took the win on 66. Al­bert Pini was run­ner-up on 68.

In the nine-hole com­pe­ti­tion, 24 run­ners saw Al­bert Pini re­v­erse his luck to win on 31 on a count­back from Ray­mond Bail­lie.

Next Tues­day will see the Whit­sun­day group join the Veter­ans. It starts at 9am.
