Hill climbs to the top in A-grade
GOLF: A nippy start and a bit of rain didn’t dampen the spirit of 21 Whitsunday Golf Club golfers who played a single Stableford competition last Sunday.
There was a field of 21 players on the day.
New member John McCouat played an almost faultless game as runner-up in B-grade so now moves straight into A-grade. Elaine Philpott played her first game with the club in five years and has rejoined for the season.
Anna Winterbourn played to her newly reduced handicap to win the ladies competition with an excellent 32 points.
In Men’s A-grade the winner was Kym Hill on 39 points. The runner-up was Ron Jamieson on 34. The best gross score was Rod Wecker and the longest drive was Kym Hill.
In Men’s B-grade Mark McDougall won on 44 points ahead of runner-up John McCouat on 40. Best gross score was Mick Caton and the longest drive went to Brendon Meharry.
Anna Winterbourn was the ladies winner on 32 points. Runner-up was Linda Wardroper on 29. Best gross score was Beryl Miller and the longest drive (1-39 h’cap) Anna Winterbourn and (40+ h’cap) Joanne Moynihan.
Membership renewals are due from July 1. The Magnetic Island trip will take place on October 13-16.
