Big victory helps boost the Raiders’ confidence
RUGBY UNION: The 76-0 scoreboard told one story, but the intensity of the game told another.
Whitsunday coach Kon Flaherty said his side’s strong victory over Slade Point was made possible due to the full determination of the Raiders.
“We stuck to our game plan pretty well, Slade Point put a lot of effort in the whole way through but we held together and were able to get over the top of them constantly,” he said.
“It was a well-fought game – the score was one-sided but they stuck it to us and our guys kept their full intensity for 80 minutes.”
Saturday’s clash was the last game of the first round of fixtures and Flaherty said the win would give the side a strong base for the next round.
The Raiders play against Bowen next Saturday.
