PCYC finds new home for school aged care

Whitsunday Times - - NEWS -

THE Whitsunday PCYC may not be hosting vacation care but it doesn’t mean there is nowhere for kids to go these school holidays.

PCYC branch manager, Sergeant John Dickinson, said they’d been working hard to get school aged care operational at their new Cannonvale centre and they had just received some great news for the holidays.

From Monday, the new centre has been approved to host up to 80 kids.

Their vacation care program will feature two weeks of activities like arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor games, music, drama and cooking.

“It’s up and running,” Sgt Dickinson said. “We couldn’t offer it during the Easter holidays because of the cyclone (but) a fair bit of work and money has been spent in ensuring this centre was fully functional before the June/July holidays so the parents have somewhere for their kids.”

The PCYC will continue to offer after school care at their new centre at 9 Coral Esplanade, Cannonvale.
