Latest and greatest facilities
STAGE 3 of St Catherine’s Catholic College project was blessed and opened recently.
The new buildings have created some amazing experiences for students, staff and the community.
The multi-purpose hall has many uses including daily HPE classes, staff-student sports competitions, parent information evenings, school musical productions, Whitsunday Netball team practices and, most recently, a sleeping area for 200 Australian Defence Force personnel assisting with the Cyclone Debbie clean-up.
The textiles facility is a popular venue where the college’s cafe facility is located. It is also where quilts, pillows and other items are made, facilitated by professional staff who have extensive retail industry experience.
The hospitality room has created opportunities for students to practise their Certificate III Hospitality skills. Students have catered for a range of events, including the school musical, the school P&F dinner and Biggest Morning Tea.
The graphics room allows students to test and challenge their skills using the latest in computer software and 3D printing. Students have demonstrated some exemplary skills in the past three years, winning the Aurecon Bridge Building competition.
The college’s industrial technology and design facility consists of woodwork and metalwork facilities and is the current venue for the Certificate III Mechanics, used by St Catherine’s.
