GOLF: With Proserpine Golf Course now well into recovery mode following ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie, the improvement in the course condition over the last week was very noticeable.

The improvements made Whitsunday Golf Club’s two ball Ambrose competition last Sunday even more enjoyable.

Players benefited from more run on the fairways and improved greens making the competition tight for winning positions.

The overall winners on the day were Leanne Abernethy and Rod Wecker.

Runners-up were Ian Giles and Mick Caton.

Coming third was the team of Mark McDougall and Danny York. They were followed by Joanne Moynihan and Kym Hill on a countback from Linda and Scotty Wardroper on a countback from Karen Rix and Don Cameron.

The longest drive of the day in Men’s A was Kym Hill and in Men’s B it was Mark McDougall.

For the ladies competition (1-39 h’cap) longest drive went to Pauline Redpath and (40+ h’cap) Linda Wardroper.

Nearest the pins for the day were:

Second shot on the second: Mark McDougall and Danny York

Second shot on the ninth: Pauline Redpath and Penny Wardroper

First shot on the 13th: Tiina Randmae and Reg Kercher

First shot on the 16th: Linda and Scotty Wardroper

Next week, the Whitsunday Golf Club will hold its Airlie Panel and Paint/Master Butchers Whitsunday July Monthly Medal competition.
