Tight wins in grades
GOLF: Forty-two men played in Proserpine Golf Club’s single Stableford event on Thursday.
A grade winner was John Grosskreutz with 41 points, from runner-up Perri Simpson on 39.
B grade winner was Brendon Meharry 42 points. Runner-up was Theunis Venter on 40 on a countback from Tim McBride.
Those in the rundown were Vic Feldman, Chris Weigand and Mat Bower, all on 38, Albert Pini, Bill Woods, Wayne Fitzgerald and Chris Brett, 37, and Rees May and John Dodds, 36.
The nine hole competition went to John Grosskreutz with 22 points from Wayne Fitzgerald and Tim McBride on 21 points. Pin shots went to Matt Beach, on two, Kane Nusteling, nine, Kevin Campbell 13 and Peter Scrivens on 16.
Wednesday’s ladies Paya sponsored Stableford went to Penny Wardroper with 40 points, from runner-up Tiina Randmae on a countback with 37 points. Unlucky loser was Lyn Muller.
Beryl Miller, Pauline Redpath and Tessa Aitken completed the rundown.
All three pin shots were taken by Mandy Patterson.
Saturday’s men’s monthly medal was won C grader Martins Kornis with 64 nett, on a countback from Vic Feldman also on 64 nett.
A grade also went to a count back, Brad Albertson with 68 nett nudging Larry Muller to second place.
In B grade, Ross Meade on 68 beat Jim Cochrane with 69 nett.
The place getters went to 16th place, finishing at 71 nett on a countback.
Pin shots went to Andy Pearson on two and 13, Rob Smith, nine, and Wayne Fitzgerald on 16.
The ladies monthly medal went to Marlene Gray on 73 nett, with Wendy Bradley runner-up on a countback, with 74. The unlucky player was Elina Kornis, followed by Robyn Mills and Lyn Muller in the rundown.
The pin shot went to Kath Borer and Lyn Muller had the least putts with 27.
Next Saturday will be the Hillside Turf two person aggregate Stableford.
The ladies Wednesday competition and men’s Thursday competition will be played as usual.
A TOTAL of 34 entrants played last week’s 18-hole Veterans golf par competition. Kenneth Lovett won with a +6.
Runners-up were Ronald Edkins with +4 and Mandy Patterson with +3.
The rundown included Peter Lewis, +2, on a countback from Paula McQuat, +1, Jan Shuwalow, +1 and Nicola Apruzzese +1.
