Newbie Gwalter moves to A-grade
Excellent scoring on tricky greens
GOLF: It was a brisk start to the morning when 31 Whitsunday golfers played the 2017 4BBB Stableford Championship last Sunday.
A newly signed member made his presence felt on the day.
Anthony Gwalter moves straight into A-grade after a great score, and he took out the men’s longest drive, and two nearest the pins on the day.
Perfect golf conditions made for excellent scoring in spite of the tricky greens, much faster than they were a few weeks ago.
Winners: Donny Hope/ Paul Nicol on 49 points
Runners-up: Pauline Redpath/Dean Kercher on 48 points on a countback from
Third: Karen Rix/ Don Cameron
Fourth: Tiina Randmae/Wilf Herweg on 47 points
Fifth: Elaine Philpott and Jacqui Wall on 46

Longest drive ladies: 1-39 handicap, Penny Wardroper, 40+ handicap – Karen Rix
Nearest the pins: Anthony Gwalter took out the nearest the pin on his second shot on the ninth hole.
Mick Caton got nearest the pin with his first shot on hole 13.
In the A-grade nearest the pin went to Ron Jamieson who won on his second shot on hole two from Danny York, who scored on his first shot on the 16th hole.
Gwalter on his second shot on the second hole won the NTP competition from Donny Hope who scored on his first shot on the 16th hole.
In the ladies’ games, Tiina Randmae scored on her second shot on the second hole from Pam Casey, who scored on her first shot on the 16th hole.
Next week will be a single stroke competition at the Proserpine course.
Proserpine Golf Course will be closed on August 6 for the men’s open.
