Ex­cel­lent scor­ing on tricky greens

GOLF: It was a brisk start to the morn­ing when 31 Whit­sun­day golfers played the 2017 4BBB Stable­ford Cham­pi­onship last Sun­day.

A newly signed mem­ber made his pres­ence felt on the day.

An­thony Gwal­ter moves straight into A-grade af­ter a great score, and he took out the men’s longest drive, and two near­est the pins on the day.

Per­fect golf con­di­tions made for ex­cel­lent scor­ing in spite of the tricky greens, much faster than they were a few weeks ago.

Win­ners: Donny Hope/ Paul Ni­col on 49 points

Run­ners-up: Pauline Red­path/Dean Kercher on 48 points on a count­back from

Third: Karen Rix/ Don Cameron

Fourth: Ti­ina Rand­mae/Wilf Her­weg on 47 points

Fifth: Elaine Philpott and Jac­qui Wall on 46

Longest drive men: An­thony Gwal­ter

Longest drive ladies: 1-39 hand­i­cap, Penny Wardroper, 40+ hand­i­cap – Karen Rix

Near­est the pins: An­thony Gwal­ter took out the near­est the pin on his sec­ond shot on the ninth hole.

Mick Ca­ton got near­est the pin with his first shot on hole 13.

Men’s A-grade:

In the A-grade near­est the pin went to Ron Jamieson who won on his sec­ond shot on hole two from Danny York, who scored on his first shot on the 16th hole.

Gwal­ter on his sec­ond shot on the sec­ond hole won the NTP com­pe­ti­tion from Donny Hope who scored on his first shot on the 16th hole.

In the ladies’ games, Ti­ina Rand­mae scored on her sec­ond shot on the sec­ond hole from Pam Casey, who scored on her first shot on the 16th hole.

Next week will be a sin­gle stroke com­pe­ti­tion at the Proser­pine course.

Proser­pine Golf Course will be closed on Au­gust 6 for the men’s open.
