Nicolle selected for Mackay rep team
BOWLS: The Scroungers weekly competition was won by Neil Moore when he defeated Kevin Jewell.
The scroungers round final was played after the weekly game and nine bowlers contested the final game which was won by Betty Whitehorn.
Second was Kevin Jewell and third Ash Warland.
The Wednesday competition was won by David Dias, Rick Brunell and Michael Jacometti, who defeated Kevin Milton, Ken McAlister and Bruce Purdie 26-9.
Other winning teams were Ian Heron, Graeme Herd and Louis Mahony defeating John Beach, Ian Metzer and Bob Ward 24-10.
Tony Whitehorn, Jim Cairns and Bob Fenney defeated Ross Harvey, Kelly Comey and David Stock 26-17.
There were two drawn games.
Nik Fernbach, Dom Sposato and Herb Secomb, against James Argo, Linda Milton and Lou Rogan, scored 14 points each.
Russell Bramich, Barry Zillmann and John Ryan, against Betty Whitehorn, Ron Spence and Helen Ward, ended 17-17.
Next round will start this Saturday with 9.30am registration.
Tuesday social competition
Lyn Boxer, Regina Aqualina and Kelly Comey defeated Elaine Hadlow, Di Dobbins and Tess Walker 16-8. Ladda Purdie, Margaret Heeney and Elaine Kippen defeated Betty Whitehorn, Jenny Ryder and Mae Secomb 14-10.
Business House Bowls final game is Wednesday. This week results left no change in the ladder.
Whitsunday Fishing World and the Airlie Beach Hotel won and kept the shared top position with 16 points each.
The winner with the greatest margin was Porters Pounders who now hold 14 points.
Townsville ladies were winners of the 3D Shield and the Mackay Ladies did well to place as runners-up.
Betty Nicolle from the Airlie Beach club was a selected member of the Mackay district team.
Club Championship semi-final two bowls triples was won by Tony Whitehorn, David Dias and Rick Galea against Bob Spees, Rick Brunell and Neil Moore 28-15.
Mackay District champion of champions men’s Fours competition was won by Airlie Beach who defeated South Suburban 23-21. The team members were Andy Bell, Nathan Harriott, John Beach and Bob McMahon.
Sunday social bowls played four rinks of triples.
The wining rink was led by Jill Spencer and her team of Ken McAllister and Lachlan Cowlard. Visitors on the day included Joyce Mallesch and Shirley Williamson, snapped by the roving photographer from the Whitsunday Times.
