Can­nons smash­ing it

SWIM­MING: Per­sonal best records were smashed as 12 Can­non­vale Can­nons swim­mers trav­elled to Townsville to com­pete in the Gar­dens Short Course Swim Car­ni­val last week­end.

Ju­niors took to the pool on Satur­day while Sun­day fea­tured se­nior swim­mers.

Mikhaila Flint, aged 11 con­tin­ued her strong form af­ter win­ning and achiev­ing per­sonal bests in all of her events.

Her great­est achieve­ments were per­formed in the 400m IM (16.79s PB) and 400m freestyle (35.44 sec PB).

Te­gan Hanks, 11, also boasted an en­vi­able ef­fort, hav­ing achieved top plac­ings in all of her events and qual­i­fy­ing for three events for State Short Course.

Evie Her­lihy also achieved per­sonal bests across all her events, in­clud­ing a mas­sive im­prove­ment in her 800m freestyle.

Kimba-Lee Sim­monds, aged 12 joined her team­mates in achiev­ing per­sonal bests with her best per­for­mances in­clud­ing the 800m freestyle, 400m freestyle, 200m back­stroke and 200m freestyle.

Mae Carter-Attwood and Zavier Goswell, both aged 9, per­formed ex­tremely well achiev­ing top plac­ings in all their events.

Mae’s best swims in­clude her 100m IM and her 100m breast­stroke which she won first place and her 100m back­stroke which she swam a 4.9 sec PB.

Zavier’s best swims in­clude his 50m and 100m breast­stroke and freestyle events.

Remy Hedges per­formed very well and her top swims in­clude her 100m IM with a 3.87 sec PB and her 100m breast­stroke.

Blake Hanks, also aged 9, swam re­ally well con­sid­er­ing he has only re­cently re­turned back to train­ing.

Blake’s best swim was his 100m freestyle which he did a 3.7 sec PB. Mitchell Milostic swam very well and his best swim was his 50m freestyle which he swam in 41.66 sec.

Se­nior swim­mers, Rylee Erick­son, Han­nah Crit­ten­den and Ky Erick­son all swim very well in their races es­pe­cially their 100m IM which they all did a PB.

Can­non­vale Can­non coaches Ken Crit­ten­den, Mark Erick­son and Kara Her­lihy ac­com­pa­nied the team and were very proud of all the swim­mers.
