Behaviour ‘creepy’

Whitsunday Times - - NEWS -

A JUBILEE Pocket man’s “creepy” behaviour was condemned in Proserpine Magistrates Court.

While walking along Hinschen St, two girls in their late-teens noticed Jason Scott Richter, 32, following them on May 22 at 4.30pm.

As they turned down Anzac Rd, Richter wolf-whistled and stared at them from the rail lines.

One girl called her mother and both ran toward Jupp St where they arranged to be rescued. Richter followed them.

Richter ran in the opposite direction after the mother called police and was seen jumping over the back fence of a business yard.

Richter was searched by police on Ruge St on May 30 at 4.45pm and was found with a glass pipe.

On June 24 at 12.30am he was stopped driving on Shute Harbour Rd in Proserpine and was found with another glass pipe inside a bag.

Chief Magistrate Orazio Rinaudo told Richter his behaviour toward the girls was “completely wrong” and a very serious offence.

Richter was sentenced to three months imprisonment, wholly suspended for 12 months, for public nuisance, and two months, wholly suspended for 12 months, for both drug utensil charges.
