New ses­sions boost bridge num­bers

BRIDGE: This last week, with changes of play­ing days to Tues­day evening from Mon­day af­ter­noon and to Fri­day morn­ing from Thurs­day evening, saw the best at­ten­dances for sev­eral months at the Air­lie Beach Bridge Club.

On Tues­day evening 10 play­ers en­tered the fold at the Whit­sun­day Neigh­bour­hood Cen­tre.

Gil­lian Blackie and Tr­ish Rouse were de­ci­sive win­ners with 26 points from vis­i­tor Trevor Tonkin and Gwen Sheer on 22 points, Linda Pri­day and Neil Cawthorne on 20 points, David and Jan Mar­shall man­aged to score 19 points and Dewi Hughes and Joy El­lis bring­ing up the rear on 13 points.

On Fri­day morn­ing the Air­lie Beach Bridge Club wel­comed 12 play­ers to the ta­ble.

Linda Pri­day and Neil Cawthorne were clear win­ners with 81 points from Gwen Sheer and Mar­ion Loeb who scored 63 points. Trevor Tonkin and Dewi Hughes all tal­lied 57 points, Jan and David Mar­shall got home with 48 points, Trevor Mer­rin and Joy El­lis posted 33 points and Gil­lian Blackie and vis­i­tor Aileen Strud­wick both man­aged to score 18 points.

Club trea­surer Neil Cawthorne said visi­tors and res­i­dent so­cial play­ers were very wel­come to at­tend the club’s Tues­day evening from 6.30pm and Fri­day morn­ing ses­sions from 9.30am at the Whit­sun­day Neigh­bour­hood Cen­tre in Can­non­vale.
