New sessions boost bridge numbers
BRIDGE: This last week, with changes of playing days to Tuesday evening from Monday afternoon and to Friday morning from Thursday evening, saw the best attendances for several months at the Airlie Beach Bridge Club.
On Tuesday evening 10 players entered the fold at the Whitsunday Neighbourhood Centre.
Gillian Blackie and Trish Rouse were decisive winners with 26 points from visitor Trevor Tonkin and Gwen Sheer on 22 points, Linda Priday and Neil Cawthorne on 20 points, David and Jan Marshall managed to score 19 points and Dewi Hughes and Joy Ellis bringing up the rear on 13 points.
On Friday morning the Airlie Beach Bridge Club welcomed 12 players to the table.
Linda Priday and Neil Cawthorne were clear winners with 81 points from Gwen Sheer and Marion Loeb who scored 63 points. Trevor Tonkin and Dewi Hughes all tallied 57 points, Jan and David Marshall got home with 48 points, Trevor Merrin and Joy Ellis posted 33 points and Gillian Blackie and visitor Aileen Strudwick both managed to score 18 points.
Club treasurer Neil Cawthorne said visitors and resident social players were very welcome to attend the club’s Tuesday evening from 6.30pm and Friday morning sessions from 9.30am at the Whitsunday Neighbourhood Centre in Cannonvale.
