ONE YEAR AGO ...
THIS time last year marked a big week of news in the Whitsundays.
It was the week when Midge Point residents were issued a DEHP warning to remove the geo-fabric material they desperately rolled out to save their beach or risk a $1.7 million fine.
The first jellyfish sting of 2016 in the Whitsundays was also revealed and saw a 29-year-old woman taken to hospital after she was snorkelling off Hamilton Island.
VMR Whitsunday recorded a record-breaking two-week rescue period with 22 activations in September.
