Patullo on course for victory
GOLF: The North Queensland Ladies open champion for 2017 is Mackay’s Shae Holmes who shot an seven over score of 153 for the 36 holes.
Shae plays off a handicap of 0.The event was played at Proserpine over 36 holes, on Saturday and Sunday.
Two Ayr ladies took out the A-grade gross winner and runner-up, Tara Jenkins 158 and Laura Andersen 167.
The local winners are Melanie Patullo the A-grade net winner with a 137, Noelene Spurway is the B-grade gross runner-up with a score of 187.
Penny Wardroper is the B-grade net winner with a 139 and Jacqui Wall is the B-grade net runner-up scoring 148.
Beryl Nosworthy took out the C-grade one win, Paula McQuat was the C-grade two winner, and Nola Giddins is the senior gross winner after scoring a 167.
Players travelled from eight different golf clubs from the North Queensland region to attend this event.
The club thanked Shae Holmes, the GNQ representative, for organising and running the event, thanks was also offered to resident gold professional at the club Roger Vandenberg.
Vandenberg said all 51 women ladies competing has a good time and there were some close scores.
“They had a great time out here and look forward to next year’s event,” he said.
The winners took home a swag of trophies, pro-shop vouchers and wine glasses as prizes.
“It bring all the ladies in the area to test their skills with other ladies from around the region.”
THE A, B and C men’s Golf North Queensland pennants for 2017 was played at Rowes Bay and Townsville on October 7 and 8.
The Proserpine Golf Club had seven players in each of the A, B and C-grade teams, and each played two matches on Saturday and one match on Sunday with the following overall results.
A-grade finished third in Division 2, and remain in Div 2 for next year
B-grade finished fourth in Division 1, and now move to Div 2 for next year
C-grade finished fourth in Division 1, and now move to Div 2 for next year
The club appreciates the 21 male members for representing the club in this GNQ annual event.
The 2017 men’s Graded Matchplay Championships at Proserpine is under way in the A, B and C-grades.
