Ullman Sails takes multihull win

Whitsunday Times - - SPORT -

WITH five wins and a second from six races, local boat Ullman Sails dominated the Australian Multihull Championship conducted at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron on behalf of the Multihull Yacht Club of Queensland.

With a fleet of 12 boats in the top division, representing clubs from throughout the country, Ullman Sails battled on the water against the Extreme 40 called The Boat Works (Julian Griffiths) and Fury Road (George Owens), who previously campaigned Mad Max.

Ullman Sails didn’t even have to compete in the last race, choosing to use the time to pack for the long haul back to Airlie Beach.

Owned and skippered by local sailmaker Paul Mitchell, the boat was crewed by local sailors Dale Mitchell, Clayton Matthews and Haydon Turnbull with Townsville sailor Arron Linton.

This topped off a successful year for the boat, having competed locally in club events and Airlie Beach Race Week, while Paul took time to compete in the World J111 Championship and events in the Caribbean.
