Spann and Handley go back to back
The final of the mixed pairs was played on Sunday afternoon between last year finalists Vicki Spann and Wayne Handley versus Joan McGrath and Shane Spann.
In a great game of bowls Vicki and Wayne secured back to back titles winning 22-16.
In one semi-final of the mixed singles played on Sunday morning, Wayne Handley defeated Shane Spann 25-22 in an enthralling game of bowls.
Wayne got his revenge on Shane after Shane won this title last year.
The two bowl triples champions were decided on Saturday.
In the semi-finals played Saturday morning, Jonathon Bye, Gavin Milne and Shane Spann overcame a slow start to defeat John Lahney, Peter Lawton (subbing for Phil Brown) and Kevin Thorogood 42-19.
In the other semi, Shane Kinnear, Luke Kinnear and Michael Kinnear defeated Chris Janz, Jim Janz and Jim Quod 32-22.
In the final played Saturday afternoon Spanny’s team had it in under control for most of the match. They had it in the bag being eight up with three ends to go but the Kinnears dug deep and got a four on the last end to win by one, 28-27.
The club wishes the Kinnears all the best in the upcoming Champions of Champions to be played at North Mackay on the October 28 and 29.
