Spann and Han­d­ley go back to back

The fi­nal of the mixed pairs was played on Sun­day af­ter­noon between last year fi­nal­ists Vicki Spann and Wayne Han­d­ley ver­sus Joan McGrath and Shane Spann.

In a great game of bowls Vicki and Wayne se­cured back to back ti­tles win­ning 22-16.

In one semi-fi­nal of the mixed sin­gles played on Sun­day morn­ing, Wayne Han­d­ley de­feated Shane Spann 25-22 in an en­thralling game of bowls.

Wayne got his re­venge on Shane af­ter Shane won this ti­tle last year.

The two bowl triples cham­pi­ons were de­cided on Satur­day.

In the semi-fi­nals played Satur­day morn­ing, Jonathon Bye, Gavin Milne and Shane Spann over­came a slow start to de­feat John Lah­ney, Peter Law­ton (sub­bing for Phil Brown) and Kevin Thoro­good 42-19.

In the other semi, Shane Kin­n­ear, Luke Kin­n­ear and Michael Kin­n­ear de­feated Chris Janz, Jim Janz and Jim Quod 32-22.

In the fi­nal played Satur­day af­ter­noon Spanny’s team had it in un­der con­trol for most of the match. They had it in the bag be­ing eight up with three ends to go but the Kin­n­ears dug deep and got a four on the last end to win by one, 28-27.

The club wishes the Kin­n­ears all the best in the up­com­ing Cham­pi­ons of Cham­pi­ons to be played at North Mackay on the October 28 and 29.
