A 31-year old Cannonvale man parted ways with his “novelty” knuckle duster after police searched his bedroom. The police search took place on October 4 at 11am where police found the banned weapon inside the bedroom of Michael Scott Dunk. Defence lawyer Cleo Rewald said Dunk demonstrated a high level of cooperation with police and did not intend to use the weapon for violent purposes. Magistrate Simon Young accepted there were no “sinister motives” behind the possession of the weapon.
Dunk pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a weapon and was fined $300 with a conviction recorded.
The knuckle duster was forfeited.
