Actions out of character

Whitsunday Times - - NEWS -

A VERY “out of character” night resulted in Rebecca Lee Crane being fined $650 and disqualified from driving for three months after she was stopped by police on Shute Harbour Road, Jubilee Pocket, at about 10.25pm on August 3.

She told police she was driving home from a function at Magnums and had drunk three glasses of wine. She recorded a reading of 0.091.

Crane told Proserpine Magistrates Court her job required her to be on call and attend emergency situations, and she had to use her car seven days a week from 7am to 7pm.

“I do drive clients, so it does put my position a bit at risk,” she said.

Magistrate Simon Young said the reading was right at the top of low-range, but he would take into account the impact losing her licence would have on Crane.

No conviction was recorded.
