Bus trips await vol­un­teer

A CAN­NON­VALE school vol­un­teer will be catch­ing the bus to work after be­ing dis­qual­i­fied from driv­ing for four months.

Proser­pine Mag­is­trates Court heard on Mon­day that Vicki Joy Thomp­son recorded a read­ing of 0.082 after be­ing stopped by po­lice on Shute Har­bour Road, Ju­bilee Pocket, at 8.45pm on Au­gust 11.

She ad­mit­ted drink­ing two stub­bies of beer at home.

“I study full-time and work 20 hours a week as well as vol­un­teer­ing at Can­non­vale school,” she said. “I will have to catch the bus.”

Thomp­son was dis­qual­i­fied from driv­ing for four months for driv­ing over the gen­eral al­co­hol limit and fined $500 with a con­vic­tion recorded.
