Junior Secondary - happy, engaged and successful

OUR Junior Secondary School is designed to respond to the needs of the young adolescent from Year 7 to Year 9. The junior school is founded on:

An understanding of the nature of our adolescents

Social development and building self-esteem

Developing positive relationships among students and teachers Engagement in learning Considering the demands of a rapidly changing world

Promoting the future leaders of our community

Developing positive relationships, social development and building self-esteem is a strong focus for the activities at Year 7 and Year 9 camps recently held at Camp Kanga and Magnetic Island.

As enhanced student well-being contributes to improved academic success, it is essential to develop attitudes that build motivation and the desire to achieve success.

Our 21st Century Projects aim to engage our junior secondary students in learning by encouraging communication, collaboration, critical and creative thinking.

These capabilities are relevant and applicable for our students to succeed in the rapidly changing, inter-connected, digital and globalised world of today.

Students have the opportunity to choose from a selection of projects, allowing them to follow their interests and promote a love for learning.

Student leadership has been highlighted as a key element within our Junior Secondary School.

Young adolescents benefit greatly from involvement in activities that develop their leadership skills, build confidence, a sense of belonging and self-esteem.

Local spirit is strong within our school and we pride ourselves on preparing students to become active community members and to lead the next generation of youth in the Whitsunday Region.

PROBLEM SOLVING: Students focus on new skills in Year 7.

Building self-esteem and motivation encourages success.

21st Century projects promote a love for learning.
