Latest action thriller goes the extra Mile

Whitsunday Times - - CHILL -

THE latest blockbuster American action thriller to hit the screens is Mile 22.

Directed by Peter Berg and starring Mark Wahlberg, Mile 22 follows the story of an elite CIA task force that has to escort a prized asset 22 miles to a special point, all while being followed by the government.

Berg and Wahlberg have history together, having combined with great effect in Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon and Patriots Day.

Wahlberg stars as James Silva and certainly fits the bill of the type of character you expect leading a top-secret command team.

The cast is impressive with Iko Uwais a breakout star.

Uwais plays Li Noor, an Indonesian police officer at the centre of the terrorist plan and his martial arts prowess comes in handy.

Ronda Rousey continues her transition from UFC champion to actress as Sam Snow, while John Malkovich adds his presence as James Bishop. Be warned, there is quite a lot of violence and colourful language, but if you like rollicking action movies (approximate time 94 minutes), then Mile 22 will not disappoint.

Mile 22 hits screens at Bowen’s Summergarden Cinema today.
