Anglers are gearing up for tournament
HERE’S one for the anglers – the 2018 Whitsunday Game Fish Club Inc Light Tackle Fishing Tournament has been locked in for October, 18-21.
The tournament focuses on the catch and release of game fish including marlin and sailfish.
Points are also awarded for the catch of mackerel, queenfish, tuna, cobia, wahoo, dolphin fish, giant trevally and barracuda with an emphasis being placed on humane treatment as well as the release of the fish.
The tournament will kick off on Thursday with a briefing night and light dinner from 6pm followed by nibbles and drinks on Friday and Saturday and a presentation/wrap up on Sunday.
There are heaps of raffles and prizes to be won during the course of the tournament, including prizes for funniest and most inspiring photos, as voted by the committee.
The Whitsunday Game Fish Club Inc would like to thank major sponsor for the third year running, Ben Doolin Builders and other sponsors whose contributions help to bring this family friendly event to the region.
All anglers must be members of either the Queensland Game Fish Association (QGFA) or Gamefish Association of Australia (GFAA).
Members of the Whitsunday Game Fish Club can participate in the tournament and only pay the entry fees.
