An­glers are gear­ing up for tour­na­ment

HERE’S one for the an­glers – the 2018 Whit­sun­day Game Fish Club Inc Light Tackle Fishing Tour­na­ment has been locked in for Oc­to­ber, 18-21.

The tour­na­ment fo­cuses on the catch and re­lease of game fish in­clud­ing mar­lin and sail­fish.

Points are also awarded for the catch of mack­erel, queen­fish, tuna, co­bia, wa­hoo, dol­phin fish, gi­ant trevally and bar­racuda with an em­pha­sis be­ing placed on hu­mane treat­ment as well as the re­lease of the fish.

The tour­na­ment will kick off on Thurs­day with a brief­ing night and light din­ner from 6pm fol­lowed by nib­bles and drinks on Fri­day and Satur­day and a pre­sen­ta­tion/wrap up on Sun­day.

There are heaps of raf­fles and prizes to be won dur­ing the course of the tour­na­ment, in­clud­ing prizes for fun­ni­est and most in­spir­ing pho­tos, as voted by the com­mit­tee.

The Whit­sun­day Game Fish Club Inc would like to thank ma­jor spon­sor for the third year run­ning, Ben Doolin Builders and other spon­sors whose con­tri­bu­tions help to bring this fam­ily friendly event to the re­gion.

All an­glers must be mem­bers of ei­ther the Queens­land Game Fish As­so­ci­a­tion (QGFA) or Game­fish As­so­ci­a­tion of Aus­tralia (GFAA).

Mem­bers of the Whit­sun­day Game Fish Club can par­tic­i­pate in the tour­na­ment and only pay the en­try fees.
