York wins stableford event
PROSERPINE GOLF: On Saturday 52 men and 21 ladies turned out for the single stableford event.
The men’s winner was Danny York with 43 points from Perri Simpson and Tony Selwood, both with 42.
Other placegetters were Adam Tester, 41, Ken Lovett and David Johansen, 40, Rod Wecker, Nathan Sothmann and Albert Pini 39, Chris Brett, Dave O’Connor, Barry Mortimer, Lewis Tuck, Roger Vandenberg, Peter Faust and Wilf Herweg, 38, and Peter Fox and David Moran 37.
The pins went to Gary Scotford on two, Kevin Campbell on nine, Theunis Venter 13 and Nic Langevad 16.
Six players shared in the two-shot club.
The ladies’ winner was the in-form Penny Wardroper with 38 points, on a countback from Sherri Meade.
Wendy Bradley, Paula McQuat and Jacquie Wall were next with 36, followed by Trish McNeill 35 and Tiina Randmae 34.
The pin shot on nine went to Leanne Abernethy.
Thursday’s men’s competition saw a crowded leaderboard with three coming in with 40 points followed by two on 39.
Paul Nicol was the countback winner from Wayne Temby and Michael Ward.
The 39-ers were Conrad Werner and Mick Burrows.
Others in the run-down were Peter Scrivens, 38, Russell Reardon, Jon Miller, Kumya Gabey, Bill Woods and Brendon Meharry, 36, and Geoff Harrison
The nine-hole winner was Russell Reardon with 21, followed by Geoff Harrison and Jon Miller,
The pin shots went to Michael Miller on two, Michael Ward on nine, Mat Bower 13 and Peter Scrivens on 16.
The ladies Wednesday monthly medal was won by Tessa Aitken with nett 73, from Penny Wardroper 74, who finished runner-up on a countback.
The placegetters were Marlene Gray 74, Paula McQuat and Pauline Redpath 75, and Di Dobbins 75.
The pin shots went to Jacquie Wall on nine, Tiina Randmae, 13 and Wendy Gough 16.
Tiina Randmae also had least putts with 23.
Next weekend is the club championships, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday, in three grades.
A and B-grade men will play 27 holes each day, and the C-grade 18 holes each day.
The ladies will play 27 holes each day in all three grades.
