York wins stable­ford event

PROSER­PINE GOLF: On Satur­day 52 men and 21 ladies turned out for the sin­gle stable­ford event.

The men’s win­ner was Danny York with 43 points from Perri Simpson and Tony Sel­wood, both with 42.

Other placeget­ters were Adam Tester, 41, Ken Lovett and David Jo­hansen, 40, Rod Wecker, Nathan Soth­mann and Al­bert Pini 39, Chris Brett, Dave O’Con­nor, Barry Mor­timer, Lewis Tuck, Roger Van­den­berg, Peter Faust and Wilf Her­weg, 38, and Peter Fox and David Mo­ran 37.

The pins went to Gary Scot­ford on two, Kevin Camp­bell on nine, The­u­nis Ven­ter 13 and Nic Langevad 16.

Six play­ers shared in the two-shot club.

The ladies’ win­ner was the in-form Penny Wardroper with 38 points, on a count­back from Sherri Meade.

Wendy Bradley, Paula McQuat and Jac­quie Wall were next with 36, fol­lowed by Tr­ish McNeill 35 and Ti­ina Rand­mae 34.

The pin shot on nine went to Leanne Aber­nethy.

Thurs­day’s men’s com­pe­ti­tion saw a crowded leader­board with three com­ing in with 40 points fol­lowed by two on 39.

Paul Ni­col was the count­back win­ner from Wayne Temby and Michael Ward.

The 39-ers were Con­rad Werner and Mick Bur­rows.

Oth­ers in the run-down were Peter Scrivens, 38, Rus­sell Rear­don, Jon Miller, Kumya Gabey, Bill Woods and Bren­don Me­harry, 36, and Ge­off Har­ri­son


The nine-hole win­ner was Rus­sell Rear­don with 21, fol­lowed by Ge­off Har­ri­son and Jon Miller,


The pin shots went to Michael Miller on two, Michael Ward on nine, Mat Bower 13 and Peter Scrivens on 16.

The ladies Wed­nes­day monthly medal was won by Tessa Aitken with nett 73, from Penny Wardroper 74, who fin­ished run­ner-up on a count­back.

The placeget­ters were Mar­lene Gray 74, Paula McQuat and Pauline Red­path 75, and Di Dob­bins 75.

The pin shots went to Jac­quie Wall on nine, Ti­ina Rand­mae, 13 and Wendy Gough 16.

Ti­ina Rand­mae also had least putts with 23.

Next week­end is the club cham­pi­onships, which will be held on Satur­day and Sun­day, in three grades.

A and B-grade men will play 27 holes each day, and the C-grade 18 holes each day.

The ladies will play 27 holes each day in all three grades.
