Multiple fractures for motorcyclist
A MOTORCYCLE crash on Shute Harbour Rd on Saturday resulted in a 48-year-old Mackay man being airlifted to Mackay Base Hospital with multiple injuries.
At about 11.42am, emergency service crews were called to a crash on Shute Harbour Rd, Airlie Beach, involving a motorcycle and a 2004 Holden commodore.
Two Queensland Ambulance crews, a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services truck and, Queensland Police Services (QPS) attended the accident.
QPS said investigations as to what caused the crash are still ongoing, but it occurred on a bend in the road.
RACQ CQ Rescue helicopter arrived on the scene at 12.55pm and treated the man for extensive injuries, including compound fractures to the shin and femur of his left leg.
The man was then transported to Mackay Base Hospital at 2.08pm where he remained in a stable condition yesterday.
Both lanes of Shute Harbour Rd reopened at around 2.15pm following the helicopter’s departure.
