Mul­ti­ple frac­tures for mo­tor­cy­clist

A MO­TOR­CY­CLE crash on Shute Har­bour Rd on Satur­day re­sulted in a 48-year-old Mackay man be­ing air­lifted to Mackay Base Hos­pi­tal with mul­ti­ple in­juries.

At about 11.42am, emer­gency ser­vice crews were called to a crash on Shute Har­bour Rd, Air­lie Beach, in­volv­ing a mo­tor­cy­cle and a 2004 Holden com­modore.

Two Queens­land Am­bu­lance crews, a Queens­land Fire and Emer­gency Ser­vices truck and, Queens­land Po­lice Ser­vices (QPS) at­tended the ac­ci­dent.

QPS said in­ves­ti­ga­tions as to what caused the crash are still on­go­ing, but it oc­curred on a bend in the road.

RACQ CQ Res­cue he­li­copter ar­rived on the scene at 12.55pm and treated the man for ex­ten­sive in­juries, in­clud­ing com­pound frac­tures to the shin and fe­mur of his left leg.

The man was then trans­ported to Mackay Base Hos­pi­tal at 2.08pm where he re­mained in a sta­ble con­di­tion yes­ter­day.

Both lanes of Shute Har­bour Rd re­opened at around 2.15pm fol­low­ing the he­li­copter’s de­par­ture.
