Mushroom Valley 2018
It’s more than just a party
MUSHROOM Valley is a three day music, art and lifestyle festival held every year in October in Yalboroo, about an hour’s drive from Airlie Beach.
In its seventh year, the festival is host to a number of international and domestic acts, with event organisers describing the music as having an ‘underground flavour’.
Headlining acts include Vegas from Brazil, Tune Raider from South Africa and Oddwave from France.
Event founder and organiser, Ben Irving said the event followed the “no trace concept,” which ensures attendees clean up after themselves.
“We are very passionate about reducing our impact by recycling and composting,” he said.
“We are continually trying to improve and come up with more ways to reduce our
waste and our impact on this beautiful land.
As well as music, the festival hosts a market every year, with stalls being a treasure trove of jewellery, clothing, art and even reiki and massages for those with weary feet after a long day of dancing.
Pulled Kitchen will be taking care of food to satisfy those hunger cravings and there will be cold pressed sugar cane juice from Mackay Sugar Rush to quench your thirst.
Mr Irving said Mushroom Valley differs to other festivals because it is about creating a safe and inspiring environment for all ages and walks of life.
Highlights from last year included the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party which took place in the middle of a dance floor, as well as the effort people put into their costumes, “So many amazing colours,” Mr Irving said. The festival is a BYO event, but festival goers are reminded that no glass is to be brought into the event, and anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent.
It’s set to be a sell out event, with up to 2,000 people to attend. There are a few third release tickets left; you can grab yours online at www.mushroomvalley.com. au/tickets
