A variety of races were also scheduled, including the “Around Whitsundays” race, some offshore races and some short races within Pioneer Bay.

Another change from normal is the provision of fixed handicaps for all boats, based on historical values over the past three seasons.

Division 1, Going into the final weekend, G’nome

(Terry Archer) holds a three point advantage over Ullman Sails (Paul Mitchell), with

Overdrive (Rupert King) a further five points back.

In Division 2, Crossbow

(David Lund) and Twister (Kevin Fogarty) are tied in the lead, with Treasure VIII

(Rob Davis) only three points adrift. Any of these are in a position to snatch the title if they perform well.

In Division 3, Anthea

(Dewi Hughes) holds a four point advantage over

Infarrction (Carol Roberts), with Lama (Lew Tuck) in third place, unlikely to improve on that position.

The weekend’s weather will add to the competition, with light easterly breeze around 10 knots forecast for both days. However, each boat has both strengths and weaknesses in those conditions, making for a competitive weekend.
