Merriment in Mexico as the model-actress turns 25
FIRST CAME WORK, AS MODEL-TURNED-actress Cara Delevingne walked the red carpet for the Mexico City premiere of her film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets on Aug. 2. Then came play—of the model-laden, hedonistic type—as she and pals such as Georgia May Jagger, Suki Waterhouse and her own sister, Poppy, filled a holiday week with ziplining, skydiving, skinnydipping and clubbing across Mexico, all culminating in an epic 25th birthday party on Aug. 12. As Delevingne captioned one pic on Instagram, “We ♥ chaos.” But there was no lack of culture, as model Eleanor Wells pointed out in an Aug. 7 post that their chorus-line pose at the foot of Mayan ruin Chichen Itza could have been “introducing the latest girl group sensation.” The birthday girl and her entourage, including actress Jaime Winstone, Burberry executive Niamh Watmore and DJ Mary Charteris, also sported
custom-made commemorative shirts during the trip. Model Adwoa Aboah thanked Homage Tees for the tops, posting, “Paying homage to my one of a kind bestie.” But giving the ultimate social shout-out was Delevingne herself, who wrote on Aug. 11: “I am so lucky to have such incredible friends, thank you for inspiring and supporting me ladies #Sexico.”
Suki Waterhouse and her paragliding guide came in for a safe and selfie landing on Aug. 11 in Cancun, Mexico. Georgia May Jagger (in pink, with Jaime Winstone) thanked Cara Delevingne (front) on Aug. 12 “for making it possible for us to swim in an underwater cave, with whale sharks and go on a crazy ATV jungle ride all within 24 hours.” Cara’s sister Poppy Delevingne (right) called Georgia May Jagger “the piña to my colada” on Instagram on Aug. 11. That’s her name, don’t wear it out —Delevingne at far right, in her own shirt with Niamh Watmore (middle) and Mary Charteris.
The birthday girl (fourth from left) played with a mariachi band on Aug. 5. Delevingne (far left) led a bikinied conga line, which model Alice Dellal labelled “#babestation” on Aug. 11.
Environmentalist Sophia Kerrison (being hugged in front) posted on Aug. 5, “Best day EVER.” Replied Tallulah Bernard, “and it’s only 11 AM.”
