NYFW 18/19 Celebrity hair and makeup artist and Tresemmé ambassador Max May talks us through his top three shows this New York Fashion Week, why he loved the hair trends and how to take these looks to everyday style

New York Fashion Week never disappoints and this year the standouts for stylist Max May were Rodarte and Jonathan Simkhai. “Rodarte did all these beautiful mix of fresh flowers through the hair giving this romantic fantasy-like finish. Jonathan did this cool, more graphic split pony and metallic-pin look.”

“I love the play in fantasy and romance. There is an innocence yet sophistication that can be replayed out at so many occasions, in a simpler way.”

Enhancing your natural texture – whether it be with a diffuser and scrunching a mousse through your hair or doing large braids and setting with a firm-hold hairspray. Also try using an iron to create a loose flat wave.

Play with loose shapes – try half-up, half-down or loose plaits and pin in a small bunch of fresh or fake flowers.
