User interface tweaks

Windows Help & Advice - - WINDOWS 10 OCTOBER 2018 UPDATE REVEALED -

1 A Dark mode for File Explorer

One of the October 2018 Update’s highlights is the extension of the Dark Theme to include File Explorer. When you go to Start > Settings > Personalisation > Colours and set ‘Choose your default app mode’ to Dark you’ll see that File Explorer is now (largely) dark, too.

2 More subtle window borders

Gone are the colourful title bars and window borders – now they’re grey, designed to blend into the background. Restore the old look by ticking the ‘Title bars and window borders’ box under Start > Settings > Personalisation > Colours. Note the increased use of drop shadow.

3 Make text bigger across the system

Navigate to Start > Settings > ‘Ease of Access’ > Display and you’ll see a new option to make the text bigger across your entire operating system, simply by operating the slider – once you’re happy with the level offered, click Apply and hey presto, the job’s done.
