Bindi Irwin used the annual Los Angeles dinner honouring her late dad Steve to reconnect with an old celebrity friend – and her boyfriend Chandler Powell was not amused. Bindi, 19, was seen chatting up a storm with Modern Family star Nolan Gould, also 19, at the glittering Steve Irwin Gala Dinner in Beverly Hills, after they struck up a friendship at the same dinner the year before. “Chandler heard how Nolan described meeting Bindi last year as a ‘definite highlight’, which irked him,” says a source. “And he didn’t like how Nolan cosied up to Bindi both this year and last year for the cameras.

“Chandler knows American kids grew up loving Bindi as a child star, and now she’s a gorgeous young woman. Truth be told he’s suspicious of any man getting too close to her.”

According to our insider, 21-year-old Chandler had even hinted Nolan – who plays Luke Dunphy on the hit show – shouldn’t be invited this year.

“He couldn’t come up with a decent reason why, though, and that’s when Bindi realised he was jealous of their friendship,” says a source. “She thinks it’s funny, because she only has eyes for Chandler at all times.

“She couldn’t be more in love with him.”

Nolan said meeting Bindi was “a definite highlight” – and Chandler (inset) isn’t happy.
