Blue is the new black. And so are fuchsia, burgundy and gold. “Bright colours are all about having fun, plus they add a shot of adrenaline to your entire look,” says Martin.

TRY IT: Don’t coat all of your lashes in an intense hue – just focus on the outer quarter. “Brush on a white primer first, then apply your regular mascara except for on the outer edges, covering them in colour instead,” says Martin. “The white will cancel out the natural pigment of your lash, so the colour really pops.” We like Clinique Lash Building Primer, $35. With so much happening on your eyes, keep the rest of your face minimal – just foundation and lip balm. A little colour shy? Ease yourself in. Try a subtle colour tweak, suggests make-up artist Linda West. “Brown eyes look great with purple, blue eyes are enhanced with blue,” she says. “Green or hazel eyes will pop with burgundy.” Pop that.
