Why you should be wary of buying mineral water

World of Knowledge (Australia) - - World Events -

There are hundreds of brands of mineral water available to buy in Australia – and all of them are safe to drink. But if you want to protect the environment and the people at the source when you buy, it’s best to follow these guidelines. 1. The water should come from a local source: the further it has been transported, the higher the carbon footprint. Evian, for example, transports its bottles thousands of kilometres from France, while Mount Franklin water comes from Australia. 2. Reusable bottles are better than one-use bottles. Glass is less damaging to the environment than plastic as it is easier to recycle, say packaging experts. 3. Drink tap water where possible.
