Batonbearer nominations close soon
Time is running out to nominate community legends to carry the Queen’s baton and be part of Australian sporting history in the lead up to the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
The Yarrawonga Chronicle reported in March the exciting news that Yarrawonga is set to feature as one of the designated stops on next year’s Queen’s Baton Relay.
The baton is scheduled to move through Yarrawonga on Thursday, February 15, 2018 before heading to Wodonga via Rutherglen.
There is only one week to go for Australians to nominate people to carry the baton.
The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC) is looking for everyday Australians to carry the Queen’s Baton on its 100-day journey around Australia to its final destination, the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) Opening Ceremony on April 4, 2018.
The Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) is a chance for people all over Australia in regional communities and major cities to be a part of the largest sporting event Australia will see this decade.
Batonbearer nominations close on Monday, May 15 so everyone is encouraged to go online and nominate someone who inspires them to be great.
This is the last chance to recognise someone by nominating them to be a Batonbearer.
Batonbearers must be nominated by someone else and nominees must accept their nominations to be considered for the role.
