In what has been one of the best rivalries the Ovens and Murray has ever witnessed, two fierce teams in Yarrawonga and Lavington went toe to toe yet again, in another thrilling game of high quality netball on Saturday.
The Panthers began the game the better, catching the Pigeons off guard with a 6 goal lead at quarter time.
But in typical Pigeon fashion, the girls fought back strongly, as they began to capitalise on rebounds and ground balls.
Lauren Mulquiney and Caitlin O’Dwyer were instrumental in the Pigeon resurgence, as their will to work hard all over the court was evident.
The fourth term was a thriller, as the crowd was at its peak and the game was at full throttle.
Eventually the girls were just beaten by the final whistle, as they went down by the narrowest of margins, 1 goal.
The Pigeon girls will be out to bounce back, as they have one final opportunity to gain redemption on Lavington this week.
But first they must get over the North Albury hurdle, who they face in this week’s preliminary final.
