Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy recently met with Yarrawonga Aquatic and Recreation Centre representatives to discuss the continued push for an indoor pool in Yarrawonga.

According to the group Mr McCurdy said, “Yarrawonga is the most suitable location in Moira Shire for an indoor pool”.

Mr McCurdy gave his strong support for YARC’s continuing work towards the building of a centre.

He told the group he was impressed by the extent of community backing for the facility, with more than 550 paid up members of YARC and more than 1,300 people respond- ing to a survey last year providing overwhelming support.

Mr McCurdy noted, in particular, the benefits of an indoor pool for the health and wellbeing of the Yarrawonga and district community, including children and the elderly.

“All efforts should be made to ensure such an important community resource is delivered,” Mr McCurdy said.

“And a centre will help boost local economic growth through more tourism and encouraging more people to retire to Yarrawonga.”

Mr McCurdy encouraged YARC to continue with its efforts and offered useful ideas on the most effective steps to take from here on.
