Wa­ter Coun­cil rep­re­sen­ta­tive

Fed­er­a­tion Coun­cil’s rep­re­sen­ta­tive on the Rive­rina Wa­ter County Coun­cil is Mayor Pat Bourke, as de­cided at coun­cil’s in­au­gu­ral monthly meet­ing of elected coun­cil­lors on Septem­ber 26.

The Rive­rina Wa­ter County Coun­cil (RWCC) was formed on May 2, 1997 and dis­trib­utes wa­ter within the Fed­er­a­tion Coun­cil area to Urana, Boree Creek, Morun­dah, Oak­lands, Rand and ru­ral prop­er­ties in be­tween.

RWCC mem­bers con­sist of five mem­bers from Wagga Wagga City, and one each from Lock­hart and Fed­er­a­tion Coun­cils, and two from Great Hume Shire.

Del­e­gates are ap­pointed for a four-yeart­erm but Cr Bourke’s term is for three years to co-in­cide with Fed­er­a­tion Coun­cil’s three­year-terms for coun­cil­lors.

RWCC cov­ers an area of 14,500 square kilo­me­tres sup­ply­ing a pop­u­la­tion of 67,000 peo­ple through 30,000 ser­vice con­nec­tions and also dis­trib­utes wa­ter to Wagga Wagga, and Greater Hume and Lock­hart Shires.

Meet­ings are held bi-monthly on the fourth Wednesday of the month in Wagga and once a year at a par­tic­i­pat­ing coun­cil.

Del­e­gates re­ceive pay­ment of $482.50 per month from RWCC as well as 75 cents per km travel al­lowance.

* In other news, Fed­er­a­tion Coun­cil’s Mayor Bourke and one other coun­cil­lor, as well as Gen­eral Man­ager Chris Gil­lard will at­tend the Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment NSW An­nual Con­fer­ence in Syd­ney from De­cem­ber 4 to 6.
