The Under 14 Bulls opened up their season by travelling to Benalla taking on the Bushrangers.

With plenty of nervous energy in the air it was important that the Bulls got off to a solid start.

The top three batsmen in Austin Willett, Ty- ler Norman and Sam Wood laid the foundations for the middle order to cash in.

Austin received the ball of the innings to be bowled for 5.

The middle order took their opportunity with Co-captains Jyda House (12) and Caleb Mitchell (17) putting on a run a ball partnership to place enormous pressure on the opposition fielders.

This was backed up by Desi O’Kane who top scored with a powerful 29 including 5 boundaries.

A last over cameo from Jeremy Bramich, smashing 2 boundaries, ensured the Bulls set the imposing total of 108 from 21overs.

Caleb and Desi opened the bowling knocking over both the openers with just a leg bye on the board.

Jyda House backed up an opening maiden claiming a wicket in his second over with a good catch from Tyler.

Tyler was soon in the action again taking another catch of the bowling of Oscar Elliott.

Two balls later Oscar crashed through the defence of the batsman to rip the heart out of the Bushies middle order.

The Bushies collapse continued with Tanner Irvine, Sam and Tyler all bowling their opponents.

Dillon Kirchen returned to round out the innings taking a wicket caught by Willett who did a fantastic job behind the stumps.

An excellent all round performance highlighted by the teams ground fielding especially Luke Phillips who did a power of work.

Awards with thanks to Crusty Loaf Bakery - Desi O’Kane and Yarrawonga Fish and Chips - Jeremy Bramich.

Special thanks to Dash McIntosh who has gone above and beyond coordinating the start of the season.
