Solid first win for A Reserve
The A Reserve Lakers travelled to Rutherglen to get the show on the road after waiting out a bye in round one.
After a stressful Thursday night at selection, the team fielded 11 players.
Usual captain Patty Martin was busy with work so the ever-young Gus Browing took the job. Browning lost the toss and the Lakers were sent into bat and got off to an ordinary start finding themselves 3 for just 11 runs.
The pitch was doing a bit so it was up to Brendan Lewis and Sam Lidgerwood to steady the ship before Lewis fell for 12.
This saw Mitch Collins-Bye head to the crease after enjoy a month-long celebration following the Rennie premiership win.
Lidgerwood fell soon for 15 but CollinsBye went on to make 48 and with Ned Mulins helped the Lakers post 133.
Lewis opened the bowling with young Ned Mullins. Lewis struck in his second over with Rutherglen at 1/11.
Ned bowled very well in his spell however wickets dried up.
Lewy bowled his 6th over and struck twice
