Moira Shire Council has unveiled its proposed new shire and town entrance signage.

Mayor Gary Cleveland said over the past few years the community had made it clear the shire’s tired and dated signage needed to be updated.

“The new concepts build on the energy and impact of our new logo and reinforce our vision of our shire working together to be a vibrant and prosperous rural community,” Mayor Cleveland said.

“We have gone for a common style that allows cost effective production and installation but ensures our towns and communities can add their identity.”

Mayor Cleveland emphasised the concepts were in their very early stages.

“There is still considerable work to be done,” he said.

“We are yet to tender for production, we will need to work with VicRoads and other agencies to confirm site specific permit requirements and of course there is a need to work with local communities to develop their local identifier that will be appearing on each sign.”

“Our goal is to begin the program of installing new signage at major shire entrances this financial year.”

Signage for the four major towns and the many tens of minor shire entrances will follow.

“Any images that appear in our concept designs are for illustration purposes only,” Mayor Cleveland said.

“We anticipate seeking community feed- back on individual town signage elements during early 2018 as we progressively roll out signage to local communities.”
